Preparation

Before the procedure, a detailed medical history and diagnosis is taken to determine the type and severity of the hyperhidrosis and to rule out possible underlying diseases. If necessary, we recommend an internal or endocrinological examination beforehand.

The intervention

The treatment is performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia or in twilight sleep. Sweat gland tissue is gently removed using the Microaire® technique. The duration of the procedure depends on the treatment area.

Aftercare

Slight swelling and bruising are possible in the first few days after hyperhidrosis treatment. These symptoms usually subside on their own. Take it easy on the treatment area for the next 5-7 days and avoid intense physical activity and saunas for 2 weeks. Most of our patients are socially acceptable again after a few days.

Reasons for
hyperhidrosis treatment

Hyperhidrosis occurs most frequently in the armpits, on the hands and feet and on the face. A distinction is made between two forms:

  • Primary hyperhidrosis: without a recognizable cause, usually genetic
  • Secondary hyperhidrosis: triggered by medication or underlying diseases (e.g. hyperthyroidism, diabetes)

Those affected often suffer from social insecurity and feelings of shame. Occupational restrictions (e.g. when shaking hands) can also occur. Physical complaints such as skin irritation, inflammation or odor formation are possible. Targeted treatment of overactive sweat glands can significantly increase your quality of life and noticeably improve your personal well-being.

Treating excessive sweating in Zurich

The treatment concentrates on the areas of the body with the highest density of sweat glands:

  • Armpits (axillary hyperhidrosis)
  • Palms (palmar hyperhidrosis)
  • Soles of the feet (plantar hyperhidrosis)
  • Forehead or face (facial hyperhidrosis)

These areas are mainly home to eccrine sweat glands, which are located superficially and react directly to heat or stress stimuli. Their function can be specifically regulated or permanently interrupted.

Surgical removal of sweat glands

Surgical sweat gland removal is used at Tremp Plastic Surgery to treat hyperhidrosis. This procedure is particularly suitable for severe axillary hyperhidrosis. The sweat glands in the armpit are permanently removed by gently suctioning them out using Microaire® vibration technology. The advantages:
