Preparation

In a personal consultation, we will determine your individual treatment options and discuss your wishes and needs. We will provide you with detailed information about the surgical procedure and possible risks and answer all your questions. You should stop smoking 1-2 weeks before the procedure and refrain from taking blood-thinning medication.

The intervention

Breast reduction is usually performed on an inpatient basis under general anesthesia and takes 2-3 hours. During the procedure, skin as well as glandular, connective and fatty tissue are removed to reshape and firm the breast.
The position of the nipples is changed by removing breast tissue and skin. The areola is moved upwards to achieve an aesthetic result. The shape and size of the nipple is also adjusted and corrected.

Aftercare

After a few days, the pressure bandage is replaced by a support bra. Wear this for 6 weeks, also during the night. Sports activities should be suspended during this time. It is usually possible to return to work after 10-14 days. Regular skin and scar care as well as sun protection are very important after the treatment for optimal results.

I incision (Lejour method): Vertical incision around the areola and vertically downwards – ideal for medium reductions with minimal scarring.
T- or L-cut: Additional horizontal cut in the underbust fold – suitable for larger breast reductions.
Periareolar technique (O-technique): Incision only around the areola, especially for small corrections and asymmetries.

In addition, the nipple is usually moved upwards and, if necessary, reduced in size to achieve an aesthetic shape.
